Abstract:

For a company, supply chain management (SCM) has been playing an increasingly important role. Therefore, how to improve the SCM of an enterprise will be a key issue. This paper focuses on solving Nike's SCM problems in stock, which can be divided into stock shortage and overstock. Nike's inventory is highly volatile, leading to errors in both parts, especially during Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19). The sharp drop in offline store sales and logistics closures have made its overstock a bigger problem than the shortage. And its obsolete inventory and seasonal stock are the biggest causes of the excess. By drawing on the cases of Zara and Dell, this paper suggests that Nike should integrate big data analysis, cloud computing and many other technologies to enhance its demand forecast. Also, it can establish the electronic data interchange (EDI) system, as well as the vendor managed inventory (VMI) warehouses to reduce unnecessary production costs and improve its operation efficiency. Besides, Nike can imitate the Taobao evaluation mechanism and adopt marketing strategies to expand advantages of the e-commerce.
