Multi-Objective Optimal Allocation of STATCOM based on Harmony Search Algorithm

Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) has been widely used for improving related performance of power system. However, it depends on its reasonable location and capacity to achieve this purpose. Therefore, this paper establishes an optimization model, which takes active power loss, total voltage deviation and transmission efficiency as objective functions. To solve the complex optimization problem, the harmony search algorithm is used to optimize its allocation. The optimized results with and without STATCOM in the system are compared using the standard harmony search algorithm. To avoid falling into local optimal solution, the improved difference harmony search algorithm is used. The results show that the improved harmony search algorithm is better than the standard harmony search algorithm in this problem. This work can provide reference for multi-objective optimization allocation of FACTS equipment in engineering practice.
