Design Method of Totem-Pole PFC and CLLC Resonant Converter Based on SiC MOSFET

SiC power semiconductor devices are becoming increasingly popular due to their excellent performance. Based on the advantages of SiC, this paper demonstrates the design method of a two-stage converter for plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs). It features in the implementation with full SiC device, including MOSFET and Diode. The converter is composed of the bridgeless totem-pole power factor correction (PFC) and the CLLC resonant converter. For the dynamic performance of the SiC devices, a double pulse test (DPT) is taken and an optimized gate driver of SiC is demonstrated. Then, the design method for a 6.6kW totempole PFC and the CLLC resonant converter is presented. Finally, the experimental results with electric vehicles (EVs) charging validate the feasibility of the proposed design method.
