High-Efficiency Drive for IPMSM Based on Model Predictive Control

This paper presents a high-efficiency drive based on model predictive control (HED-MPC), aiming to improve the efficiency of the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The equivalent IPMSM model is utilized to reach the optimal dq-current function, which can improve the IPMSM's efficiency with the optimal process. The MPC is selected as the controller because of its ability to handle complex nonlinearities and constraints. The simulation and experiments were implemented to validate the proposed HED-MPC. Besides, the efficiency maps indicate that HED-MPC can enlarge the speed range of IPMSM. Hence, it's potential to apply the proposed HED-MPC in industry and daily life.
