Design and Research of a Toroidal Core Transformer with High Heat Transfer Performance

A new type of toroidal core transformer is designed and studied. The yoke is in contact with the metallic tank shell of the transformer, so that the heat generated by the coil and core is transmitted through the core by conduction. In this paper, the core structure of the transformer is designed and the thermal simulation of the transformer is carried out. The electromagnetic optimization scheme of the transformer is completed and compared with the traditional electromagnetic scheme. Theoretically, if the oil tank is filled with coolant, the thermal resistance of the transformer thermal circuit will be further reduced. With the improvement of heat dissipation performance of transformer, the power density of transformer will be increased.
