Construction and Analysis of the Horizontal Plane Model of the RF Leg

Based on the WGS-84 coordinate system and the reference ellipsoid, a model of the RF leg between two waypoints projected on the ellipsoid is constructed. First, the method of transforming the geographic coordinates of two waypoints into rectangular coordinates is given, and the expression of the RF leg projection on the ellipsoid is given. Considering the model as a circular arc with a radius of R, and combining the relationship of trigonometric functions, the calculation method of the chord length, arc length and arc angle is given. Combined with the coordinates of the initial waypoint and the terminal waypoint of the RF leg of an airport’s departure course, the constructed RF leg model was simulated and verified.
