Graphical user interface for marine propeller optimum diameter estimation using MyOpenLab

Generally selection of optimum propeller diameter is quite elaborate to naval architects in the preliminary design stage. Implementing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) can facilitate the user to decrease time in the calculation process and obtain a first adequate approximation. For diameter prediction, a practical approach based on empirical equations was used based on Wageningen B-series charts, the most widely used systematic propeller series nowadays, because of its data fidelity from open water model tests. The design of the GUI is developed using the open-source software MyOpenLab

for graphical and modular programming. The results obtained from the GUI are compared with those of an example from literature and good agreement between the data is observed.
