Improving the Energy Performance of a Conversion Aircraft Engine

The use of aircraft engines in the power industry is very promising, since such gas turbines have a proven design, the price of such an engine is much less than a new one. The use of a conversion gas turbine is possible only after modernization; it is necessary to install a power turbine. Summer power limitations reduce the efficiency of the gas turbine engine. One of the ways to increase the power is to supply an additional working fluid to the flow path. When supplying an additional working fluid to the flow path, it is necessary to control the temperature in front of the supply unit and after the turbine in order to avoid condensation of the injected substance. Steam and carbon dioxide are considered to be injected. To carry out the research, a mathematical model of the NK-8 conversion aircraft engine was created in the “GRET” automated system. The injection of an additional working fluid affects the energy and environmental characteristics.
