Design of 180°-Scanning Leaky-Wave Antenna at Sub-6 GHz Band

In this paper, the design methodology of full-space leaky-wave antenna with phase reversal is presented by employing a crossover stripline structure with paired stubs. There are two key conditions for 180-degree scanning capability, i.e. field cancellation suppression at endfire, and open stopband suppression at broadside. The phase reversal suppresses the field cancellation at endfire direction, while the stub loading suppresses the open stopband at the broadside. A design prototype based on paired stubs and crossover offset parallel striplines is subsequently provided to verify the proposed principle. The simulation results show that the main beam scans 180 degrees within 2.3-5.3 GHz. It uses 3Ghz to realize the function of 180-degree scanning. The endfire part works at 5.3Ghz, and the broadside radiation works at 3.3Ghz.
