Evaluation of seeding unit equipped with shock absorber suspension on corn and sunflower

Seeding quality affect seeds germination, plant spacing, and final yield. The performance of the seeding unit ensures crop yield by keeping the seed spacing and sowing depth uniformity. Therefore, it is essential to use reliable machines during the planting, which could cause varying seeding depth and affect emergence, especially in poor soil conditions. In our study, the performance of seeders was estimated using the seed spacing result on two types of seeding units used for corn and sunflower. The result shows that the seeding unit with the optimized shock absorber structure has better performance under the unfavourable soil condition. It suggests that more attention should be focused on the operation quality of crop seeding by using the proper machine, especially under the soil condition in which the stones and straws on the soil surface could influence the seeding quality and further crop yield.
