Review of Diagnostic Methods for Aircraft Electrochemical Batteries

The state of an aircraft electrochemical battery is characterized by a set of values of the parameters of the batteries, the value of which changes during the operation of the aircraft. In most cases, the values of these parameters determine the power quality. During operation, the degradation of electrochemical batteries occurs. The current state of electrochemical batteries during operation is determined by their degradation and factors affecting the state of the accumulators (operating time, operating conditions, specific features of the battery). There are a number of methods for determining the state of electrochemical batteries, but they have advantages and disadvantages. Some methods do not allow us to qualitatively assess the condition of batteries, while others cannot be applied to batteries used in aviation technology, and require a discharge, which is unacceptable on board an aircraft. The objective of this work is to review the existing methods for diagnosing aircraft electrochemical batteries, to determine their advantages, disadvantages and applicability for use as part of an aircraft power supply system.
