Optimal Positioning of Macro Base Station: An Approach to Ensure Optimal Coverage of Small Cell in HetNet

Forthcoming 5G cellular networks will highly encourage the deployment of HetNet (Heterogeneous Network) or multi-tier network to build-up a high density or ultra-high density network to serve a massive number of user equipment. Therefore, the network operators must have to ensure an optimal service in each tier of a HetNet. Network operators have to ensure an efficient or optimal coverage in low-power tiers such as small cell tier without being degrading the QoS (Quality of Service) and QoE (Quality of Experience) of macro cell base station (MBS). That's why optimal power allocation to the MBS to maintain an optimal SINR at the cell-edge of the MBS and optimal SBS (Small cell Base Station)-MBS separation distance must be maintained to ensure an optimal coverage or SINR at the cell-edge of an SBS. The research, therefore, presented approaches (algorithms and simulations) to ensure an optimal or required cell-edge SINR in both small cell-tier and the macro cell.
