Field Portable 400 W Continuous-Wave Fiber Laser Source for Ordnance Disposal

We present the design and development of a field portable high power (400 W) continuous-wave fiber laser module suiting for laser based ordnance disposal system. This is a cladding pumped single mode ytterbium doped fiber laser in a single oscillator configuration. With slope efficiency of 68%, it generates 448 W of continuous-wave power, at 1070 nm with a linewidth of 1.3 nm for SNR of 30 dB with M2 factor of 1.43. We also report the various experimental investigations on the large mode area oscillator to optimize the building process in order to improve the beam quality.
