A Multiband CPW-Fed Flexible Frequency and Radiation Pattern Reconfigurable Antenna

Design of a compact Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW) fed flexible frequency and radiation pattern reconfigurable antenna for multiband applications is reported in this paper. The antenna consists of a slotted rectangular patch and three rectangular radiators with arc shaped slots at appropriate positions. To achieve frequency reconfiguration three switches are used to provide different electrical lengths. The proposed antenna exhibits a good impedance bandwidth from 3.1 GHz - 6.4 GHz and 7.3 GHz - 7.5 GHz and there by covering all the applications between these frequencies like Wi-Fi (3.6 to 3.7 GHz), WiMAX (3.4-3.6 GHz and 3.7 to 4.2 GHz), 5.2 GHz WLAN, 5.5 GHz WLAN and 5.8 GHz Unlicensed Wi Max etc.
