A Closed Queueing Network Model for SSD Write Performance Analysis Utilizing the Batch Processing Method

The performance of a solid state drive (SSD) can be greatly improved by accepting multiple requests and by operating semiconductor devices inside the SSD in parallel. In this work, we propose a closed queueing network model of the SSD for write performance analysis. We present our investigation of the batch processing method utilized in the SSD and also propose an approximate solution calculation algorithm for it. The deviation between the calculated value of our model and the measured value was 24.2% at the maximum. This result demonstrates that our model can sufficiently grasp the overall write performance behavior for the SSD.
