243 and 448 GHz Schottky heterodyne receiver for Atmospheric Study

Schottky Mixer are key components for building THz compact low-noise high-spectral resolution receivers dedicated to atmospheric sciences. This paper presents a low-noise 243 and 448 GHz sub-harmonic mixer based on anti-parallel schottky diodes. The mixer circuits are integrated with hammer-head pass filter and IF filter, which are fabricated on a suspended thin quartz-based substrate. The measured noise temperature of 243GHz and 448GHz mixer are average 800K and 2000K, respectively. The designed terahertz receiver would be applied in atmospheric study.
