Microwave All-Metal Hyperbolic Metamaterials

In this work, by exploiting the plasmonic characteristic of the meander lines, we propose a new method to design dielectric-independent hyperbolic metamaterials. Based on this method, a novel microwave all-metal hyperbolic metamaterial with permittivity tensor diag (-1, 1) is designed, in which the unique negative refraction is numerically verified. The permittivity tensor can also be adjusted by changing the structure parameters of the compositional meander lines and the distance between the adjacent meander lines. The method here may hold great promise in designing microwave and terahertz focusing lens and dispersion-dependent directional couplers.
