Linear Detector Arrays for Terahertz Imaging at 220 GHz

Based on the theory of compound eye lens, this paper presents detector arrays used for large-scale imaging. A nylon extended hemispherical lens with air cavity is designed, simulated and optimized. The lens arrays fabricated through 3D printing technology are packaged with antennas and Schottky barrier diodes to compose the linear detector arrays. The gain of the lens antenna is 19.50 dBi and the tested radiation pattern is consistent with the simulation result at 220 GHz. The imaging experiment is completed with the designed detector arrays and good results are obtained.
