Dual-Band RF Rectifier with Extended Input Power Range Based on Impedance Compression Network

In this article, a impedance compression network (ICN) is proposed for extending the input power range of dual-band rectifier. To validate the proposed idea, a dual-band (0.915 and 2.45 GHz) rectifier is designed. In this design, the proposed rectifier consists of two branches (upper and lower branch). In upper branch, the resistance compression technique (RCT) is used to realize a 0.915 GHz wide-input-power-range rectifier. Here, the rectifying device is HSMS 2822. In the lower branch, a wide-input-power-range rectifier is designed based the RCT. Then, the upper and lower branches are connected by a λ/4 T-junction power divider. At 0.915 GHz, the measured input power range for efficiency over 50% is from 1 to 29.7 dBm. At high-band 2.45 GHz, the input power range for efficiency >50 % is from 13.2 to 29.4 dBm.
