Meander Line based Two Port MIMO small Antenna for UHF RFID and Sub-6 GHz Applications

A highly miniaturized meander line based two-port multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna is presented for UHF RFID and Wideband applications. The proposed antenna provides good miniaturization of 148.58%, having an operating frequency band ranging from 0.885 GHz to 6 GHz. The antenna elements are placed orthogonal to each other to obtain high isolation. The defected ground structure is used having rectangular slots-shaped structures to improve the impedance bandwidth. The proposed antenna has a mutual coupling of less than -19 dB. Various diversity characteristics performance parameters are analyzed like ECC, TARC, DG, Radiation Efficiency, CCL and MEG, which justify the proposed antenna as a MIMO antenna.
