Short-Term Forecasting of Wind Power Generation

Wind power forecasting has a major role in reducing the impact of integrating wind power on the power grid. The purpose of this study is to identify the best short-term forecasting method of wind power generation for the high altitude aeolian fields. As wind now meets 16% of Europe's electricity demand (with onshore production share 4.52 times higher than offshore), the need for an accurate short-term forecast method of wind power generation is of central importance [1]., [2]. Adding to this aspect the fact that such a high percentage of power generation isn't totally controllable and could leave the power networks vulnerable (for example., February 2021 Texas blackout), the results of an accurate forecast is a mandatory tool for national and European network operators. In this paper we identify the best technique., from those analyzed., to forecast the wind power generation.
