An alternative approach of developing frequency encoded data based optical packet switching scheme

During last few decades' optical communication and technology emerges as the most reliable and potential contending in comparison with electronic data communication networks. Optical packet switching concepts is one of the most advantageous technologies to make room for the ever increasing large data traffic and a probable solution in the contexts of speed and optical transparency. In this paper we propose an optical packet switching network exploiting the polarization based switching action of SOA. Use of frequency encoded data, very fast switching of SOA based PSW and presence of a truly all optical network, makes this scheme more attractive for WDM communication network.
