Optimal Power Flow with Four Objective Functions using Improved Differential Evolution Algorithm: Case Study IEEE 57-bus power system

The most common objective functions of optimal power flow are fuel cost minimization, minimization of emissions, real power losses, and reduction of voltage deviation with satisfying operational constraints in power systems. This research paper presents an improved Differential Evolution algorithm (IDEA) for solving optimal power flow. The mechanism selection of crossover is randomly, the modification of trial operation and the calculations of mutation process which taken into consideration at the selection stage are the improvements. In this paper, three objective functions will be solved with a standard IEEE 57-bus test system as a case study to validate the proposed approach. This system is coded using MATLAB software. To demonstrates the effectiveness of this method, simulation results are compared with some newly known optimization algorithms, as well as original Differential Evolution programmed by the authors.
