On Using Wells Turbines to Harvest Wave Energy at the Black Sea. Case Study for a 5 kW Turbine

This paper reviews the key parameters of oscillating water column (OWC) devices and of Wells turbines that can be coupled with such devices to harvest wave energy. A design method for a system consisting of and OWC device and a Wells turbine is proposed. To illustrate the method, a case study for a 5 kW Wells turbine for harvesting wave energy at the Black Sea is presented.
