Recursive geolocation of unknown emitters using TDOAs of three GEOs

This paper addresses the problem of geolocating the unknown emitters causing uplink interference on the geostationary satellite. One common method is to utilize Time difference of Arrival (TDOA) of three GEOs. However, this method has an inherent problem that the geolocation accuracy is not good enough due to fact that two TDOA lines are nearly parallel. Furthermore, there are misdetection of TDOAs when the interference signals are not received properly. In this paper, we propose a novel recursive leased square (RLS) based geolocation method, which improves the geolocation accuracy up to 14 % compared with the conventional method.
