LTE-band Slot Antenna Design for Laptops with Metal Enclosure

A slot antenna applicable for long-term evolution (LTE) uses is proposed. The antenna structure consists of two slots, one is an asymmetric T-shaped slot, which works in the LTE high band. The other is a L-shaped slot for LTE low band operation. The projected antenna platform is a laptop with metal enclosure. The openings of the two slot are placed on the metal rim to minimize visual intrusion. Several techniques are designed to meet LTE frequency needs. A feeding network is used to excite the two slots with multiple resonances. Parametric studies and simulations are executed to demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed design in actual laptop environment. Result obtained suggests the design is suitable for LTE operation.
