Asymmetrical, Self-Isolated Laptop Antenna in the 2.4/5/6 GHz Wi-Fi 6E Bands

An asymmetrical, self-isolated antenna capable of 2.4/5 GHz wireless local area network (WLAN) operation with the new 6 GHz (5925-7125 MHz) band in the laptop computer is presented. The design is formed on a substrate of size 30 mm × 6 mm. By first offset feeding the 2.4 GHz symmetrical loop, a well-matched wideband at 7 GHz can be obtained. With incorporating the meandered tuning portion in the loop’s side strip, two higher-order modes are lowered and combined to cover the 5150-7125 GHz bands. For multi-input multi-output (MIMO) applications, arranging two antennas symmetrically with a spacing of 4 mm is also analyzed. The transmission coefficients (S
