PDIV Numerical And Experimental Estimation In A Needle/Dielectric Film/Plane Configuration

The present paper reports a comparison between simulated and experimental partial discharge measurements. To reach CO2 reduction goals, decrease in maintenance and operating costs, electrical power demand increase, and this is especially true in aeronautical domain. To keep reasonable cable weight it is necessary to increase network voltages, at the cost of higher risks of partial discharges. AIRLIFT is a numerical software based on electrostatic simulation and developed at IRT Saint Exupéry that provides prediction of Partial Discharge Inception Voltage. The aim of this study is to assess the accuracy of the numerical estimation methods. For this paper the comparison will be focused on a needle/dielectric film/plane configuration.
