Wavelet-based Functional Beamforming Method for Aeroacoustics Moving Sources Localization

Phased microphone array techniques for estimating source locations and strengths have been widely employed in aeroacoustics applications. However, most of these methods cannot adopted into the moving source localization. A wavelet-based functional beamforming method for the aeroacoustics moving sources is proposed in this paper. Two numerical cases are applied to validate the newly proposed wavelet-based functional beamforming method. It is clearly demonstrated that the new wavelet-based functional beamforming method can significantly increase the spatial resolution and the dynamic range compared to the wavelet-based beamforming method. The wavelet-based functional beamforming method enables us to analyze signals in time, spatial and frequency domains simultaneously, which shall lead to profound physical insights of certain physical problems.
