Highly Compact Triple Ring Slotted Circular Polarized Implantable Antenna for Bio-medical Applications

In this paper, A biomedical implantable antenna is submitted with a highly compact size of 9.77 mm3 and a facile design that exhibits ISM band characteristics (2.39 GHz). The proposed three circular rings implantable antenna has a minimum volume of 9.77mm3 which is the smallest volume of all implantable antennas yet. The recommended antenna has an axial ratio below 3dB from 2.38 GHz to 2.67 GHz (ISM Band) which results in circular polarisation, shows good impedance bandwidth from 2.32 GHz to 2.47 GHz (6.4%). The antenna has a peak gain value of -27.04 dB at 2.39 GHz and achieved a SAR value of 944.2 W/KG for 1 gram of tissue which is acceptable as per IEEE standard. Simulation of the proposed antenna is carried out at a skin depth of 3 mm. The antenna is simulated on the HFSS tool and shows good performance in all aspects of implantable medical devices.
