Maintenance Strategy Determination During Warranty When Replacement Is Done With Better-Than-New (BTN) Unit

Summary & ConclusionsThis paper deals with maintenance strategy where certain percentage of failure modes are fixed by repair, while the other failure modes require replacement and failure replacement is done with a better-than-new (BTN) unit. The analytical model of total life-cycle maintenance cost is derived during warranty and beyond warranty based on conditional reliability and total probability law. Numerical example is given to illustrate the cost-based decision-making process between different maintenance options.
