Metal oxide matrix-cold applied elastomeric termination systems

A unique cold applied medium voltage cable termination system has been developed using a metal oxide suspended in a mastic matrix for the stress control system and a nonheat shrink applied elastomeric environmental covering. This new system is designed for indoor and outdoor energy cable applications for voltages up to 35 kV. Developed as an extension of well known existing heat-shrinkable termination technology, the metal oxide matrix system has a compact design, easy installation method, and large application ranges. The metal oxide matrix termination system is based on a silicone material formulated housing to deliver excellent erosion resistance, weatherproofing, and dielectric properties.
