Web 2.0-Based and New Media-Assisted Ideological and Political Education in Colleges

Media and mass communication have been evolving along with the scientific and technological development. By the end of the 20th century, we entered the Internet era. With the rise of Web 2.0 that encourages user interaction, various social media driven by smart mobile terminals and APPs to integrate digital technology, telecommunication and internet, interactive communication has become more and more popular, changing the way for college students to think, study and live. This paper surveys technological advancements, media and mass communication in history, observes challenges and opportunities for ideological and political education in colleges, and recommends some strategies for better ideological and political education in colleges and universities, and particularly, an integrated approach involving teachers, parents and society.
