Tunable Wavelength One-photon Photoassisted Cold Field Emission from W(310)-nanotips

In this study, we investigate the wavelength-dependent linear photoemission from W(310)-nanotips operated in a Schottky-type emitter assembly. Fowler-Nordheim plots of the electron current are recorded for both static field emission and photoemission with a varying laser wavelength. For all wavelengths, one-photon photoassisted field emission is observed, as demonstrated by the perfect agreement of the experimental data with Fowler-Nordheim tunneling theory.
