Experimental Validation of The Sliding Mode Controller to Improve The Efficiency of The MPPT Solar System

Several maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control techniques and many different materials of solar system have been widely applied. The economic cost of materials and the ease of moving of the control unit are very important for proposing a good solution such isolated sites systems. In this paper, an experimental sliding mode control (SMC) application for MPPT of solar system with open source card (Arduino) has been proposed. The proposed method is based on two main steps. The first, characteristic curves of PV panel based on tracer variable load have been traced, in order to validate the MPPT results. Second, due to simplify or to reduce the hard party and to give more flexibility of control technique, a program of MPPT control has been loaded in the open source card. The obtained experiment results show that, the proposed low cost materials with MPPT technique was very robust and very efficiency.
