Laboratory Model of an Electric Vehicle Charger Based on the Principle of Energy Transfer by Air

wireless power transmission has been known for over a hundred years and is a method of transmitting electricity over long distances without the use of a conductive medium. Due to the lack of a conductive element, the main disadvantage of this system is its low efficiency. This paper presents an analysis of this system for an electric vehicle. A simulation model created in COMSOL Multiphysics is presented. The two coils are placed in close proximity and the theoretical efficiency of energy transfer between the coils is analyzed. A laboratory model of such a system is developed for a radio controlled (RC) car model. The experimental measurements are compared with the results of the simulation and summarize the necessary steps to be taken in designing such a system.
