Voltage Gain Control of a Switched-resonator Converter Based on the 2:1 Switched-capacitor cell

This article is about the voltage gain control of a switched-resonator converter based on the 2:1 switched-capacitor cell. Multiple resonators are realized by distributing inductors into the capacitor charging and discharging sub-circuits. One of the distributed resonant inductors has the multi-mode operation and hence gives rise to two degrees of freedom in controlling the voltage gain. Pulse width of the switch control signals can be modulated to vary the voltage gain as in conventional non-isolated DC-DC converters while keeping the switching frequency at a constant value. On the other hand, the switching frequency can be modulated to control the voltage gain in a wide range as similar to the conventional switched resonator converters. Also, the voltage regulation range can be varied by adjusting the ratio between distributed inductors. All these properties of the converter are validated using experimental results.
