Technical Design Approach to Prevention of Locust Swarm

The paper demonstrates a solar-powered device that can be used as a prevention system against locust swarm. The device is capable of emitting sound in the ultrasonic frequency range as well as electrocuting the locusts adjacent to the device. A combination of two 555-Timer IC works to emit sound in between ultrasonic frequency range whereas a combination of 555-Timer IC with an Iron-core transformer is used to electrocute the nearby locusts. Comparing the available locust prevention system, the device is inimitable as two different prevention procedures can perform simultaneously. To make the device cost-effective, a solar charging system is applied. The solar charger is capable to charge two 6V batteries through which the whole device is capable to run. The performance of this device features high effectiveness to prevent locusts from pasture-lands as well as economical use of energy.
