High Capacity and High Stability Lithium Ion Battery Electrodes using Sustainiable Carbon Plasma

Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are among the leading energy storage technologies due to high-capacity energy storage, power density and large number of charging-discharging cycles but also because of their ability to easily transport the energy such as portable devices. The electrochemical energy storage processes require specifically designed high performance electrode materials with high capacity, low-capacity fading, reliability and stability. We will present the review of our recent work using a simple indigenous developed RF plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition/processing facility wherein we natural and sustainable source of carbon, the tea-tree oil, to process, dope and synthesize electrode for energy storage devices 1 - 3 . The detailed physical characterization, and performance evaluation of these carbon-plasma processed/synthesized nanostructured materials show superior lithium-ion battery performance which will be discussed in the conference.
