Ensure public health safety, security, quality of service and smooth deployment of 5G infrastructure in Malaysia

Malaysia is one of the Southeast Asian countries to rollout the 5
^th
generation network system by the end of the year 2021. The main aims of the rollout plan are to enable online learning, enhance digital literacy and usage for micro, small and medium businesses. However, the general public and non-governmental organizations have raised some concerns regarding the potential health risks and hazards associated with Radio Frequency-Electromagnetic Field exposure from the 5G mobile phones and base stations. In this paper, the strategic plan consists of EMF related regulatory policy and standards imposed by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to the telecommunication industries is discussed in detail to protect public health and safety, to increase public’s trust and confidence in the aspect of 5G Radio Frequency-Electromagnetic Field exposure, stringent tender management system, cyber resiliency strategies and solutions to ensure smooth deployment of 5G infrastructure in Malaysia.
