Characteristics of Vacuum Arc Voltage and Material Transfer with Different Contact Materials

In this paper, the contact material transfer characteristics and contact surface micro morphology characteristics of 41mm contact diameter vacuum interrupter are analyzed. The electrode material of one contact of the vacuum interrupter is CuW80, and the electrode material of the other contact is CuCr25. The vacuum switch interrupts the intermediate frequency arc of 5-15kA at a small gap distance. The results show that for the vacuum interrupters with CuW80 and CuCr25 as contact materials, the arc voltage, breaking capacity, electrode material, micro morphology and metal transfer characteristics are affected by the cathode material.
