COVID Contact Tracing App Technology Acceptance Among Students

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of effective contact tracing for saving lives. This quantitative study uses an extended technology acceptance model to investigate university-age students’ behavioral intention to use a contact-tracing app. This study shows that overall, respondents from this demographic are willing to adopt this technology. That being said, the behavioral intention to adopt the technology is influenced by perceived usefulness, which is influenced by the extent to which respondents worry about COVID-19. This study is among the first to investigate how culture and the threat of COVID-19 impact adoption intention.
