A Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna with an Enhanced Bandwidth

A magneto-electric dipole antenna with an increased bandwidth operating from 1.04 to 3.15GHz has been proposed. The evolved design consists of a couple of r-shaped radiating patches connected to the ground plane, a parasitic patch, a
$\Gamma$
-shaped feeding strip coupled to the radiating patches and the parasitic patch, and a ground plane. Compared with a typical magneto-electric dipole, the obtained broader bandwidth is mainly caused by the T-shaped patches. The lower operating frequency of the proposed design is significantly shifted downward with the same height, thus leading to a lower profile. Moreover, good impedance match is achieved by adding a parasitic patch above the antenna. The obtained impedance bandwidth (

) is from 1.04 to 3.15GHz with a relative bandwidth of 100.7%. Moreover, the antenna presents stable radiation patterns with a cross-polarization level of less than −25dB.
