7-Bit ChiplessTag for Ultra Wideband Applications

This paper introduces a novel low-cost 7-bit chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for Ultra-Wideband applications. The identity of the tag is encoded using Frequency Shift Coding. From group delay information, the identity of the tag can be decoded. The resonators are constructed and manufactured on an FR4 Epoxy substrate having a dielectric constant value of 4.4 and a loss tangent value of 0.02. Due to the absence of a ground plane in the fabrication process, the cost of the tag is potentially less. simulations have been carried out using CST Microwave studio version 2019 and the results have proven to be appropriate for applications in the Ultra-wideband frequency range.
