Ultra-wideband Photonic VCO and Synthesizer

A novel low phase noise photonic voltage-controlled oscillator is presented and synthesizer. It is capable of operating at any center frequency from 1–110 GHz, tunable across several decades. The photonic VCO's phase noise is superior to that of existing technologies for applications beyond 60 GHz; it will extend the capability of existing applications as well as open new ones.
