Research on finite element simulation of intermediate support of vertical screw conveyor

Vertical screw conveyor as a major equipment for bulk cargo handling and transportation plays a great role in port handling and transportation. The intermediate support structure is one of vertical screw conveyor pivotal components, and the in-depth study of it will help to improve vertical screw conveyor's design and optimization, so as to enhance the bulk cargo transportation efficiency. Appling the theory of freedom and ANSYS finite element software, the stress state of vertical screw conveyor under different forms of intermediate support structures is simulated and analyzed in this paper. The analysis shows that the structure of the traditional intermediate support is structure with thrice statically indeterminate, while the degree of freedom that the new intermediate support structure have is 1. The mechanical performance of the vertical screw axis with the new intermediate spoke structure is greatly improved, and the requirements for manufacturing and installation accuracy are greatly reduced.
