Solar Photovoltaic Supply System Integrated with Solid State Transformer

Technological development in the field of power electronics makes the distribution system more advanced. This paper presents modeling, control and simulation of a 1 MW triple stage solid state transformer (SST) integrated with solar photovoltaic (PV) supply system. The modeling and design of converter stages of SST are obtained to analysis performance under dynamic conditions. Decoupled voltage control method is used for front end converter and phase shift (PS) control is employed for dual active bridge (DAB). The behavior of complete system is observed against disturbances in supply and variations in loads. It is found that SST has the ability to mitigate the limitations of conventional low frequency transformer and facilitate to integrate renewable energy sources in much better manner. It proves its suitability for smart distribution system and other applications.
