Fractional-order Sliding Mode Controller Applied for Load Frequency Control of Power System

This paper discusses a resilient controller called fractional-order sliding mode controller (FOSMC) for frequency regulation of an isolated hybrid power system against the uncertain output of wind power generator and sudden load perturbation. The key objective of integrating fractional-order calculus (FOC) into SMC design is to ameliorate robustness and effective attenuation of chattering at controller output. The results derived with FOSMC are compared with SMC and conventional controllers for establishing FOSMC's deftness. Investigation of system performances authenticates the effectiveness of the applied FOSMC over its other variants.
