Abstract:

Millimeter Wave (mmWave) frequency band offers a new facility for fifth-generation (5G) mobile communication network, as with a broadband wireless communication link in order to meet the increasing demand for higher data rates. There are significant variations between traditional systems and mmWave communications, in terms of directivity, high propagation loss, and reliability of the communication link. MmWave communication faces various challenges, including anti-blocking, dynamic constraint, interruption control, spatial reuse, and device architecture to take full advantage of mmWave spectrum. This paper, introduces a survey of the main characteristics of mmWave propagation link, which is presented as a set of recent researches in the literature for mmWave wireless communication Link Budget (LB). Furthermore, a review of the characteristics of mmWave wireless transmission with some applications are presented such as a small size coverage area, in order to reveal where mmWave is employed to satisfy the necessities of 5G network services according to their characteristics, as well as, it presents the standards for mmWave transmission
