Measurement of dielectric properties of human sweat in terahertz frequency region

Human sweat is an important biofluid which contains various physiological biomarkers and these biomarkers indicate the human health conditions such as the presence of some diseases and illness. Information of such biomarkers can be obtained by measuring optical characteristics of biofluids using various photonics-based measurement technologies. In this study, we used terahertz time domain spectroscopy to obtain dielectric properties of sweat in the frequency range of 200 GHz to 2 THz. This information may help design novel biosensors working in the terahertz frequency region.
